Rockford Chess Player engages with the community

High School Senior Ozzy Flores (Jefferson HS, Rockford, IL) is hosting a "Chess in the Park" event as part of his senior Capstone project. It will take place on April 29th, 2017, from 10am to 3pm at the Nicholas Conservatory. His goal in running the event is to help grow the Rockford chess community. He has partnered with the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau to make this chess event a success.

This event is open to the community to gather around and simply play Chess! Anybody is welcomed from all ages to come in at any given time since it's not a tournament. Anybody is welcomed to bring his/her Chess set of their own! A limited number of boards and clocks will be provided. So come on down and play a game or two. If you don't know how to play, don't be afraid! Our volunteers will easily teach you how to play!

*There will be a small blitz tournament for the competitive players but it won't be USCF rated.
